Yeah, it’s time to move on from your 2600.

I would go with the 2600 over the 2600x and save some cash. The x has a slightly better cooling and better clock speeds, but not much better.

Generally, if you are going to OC, the 2600 is better. If you don’t want to OC, then the 2600x is better. But for 1080p/60hz you should be fine with a 2600.

I also like the MSI Tomahawk for the mobo. Right now there are sales going on like crazy for cyber Monday. I have seen 2600’s cheaper than ever before.

Those are definitely cheaper and I'm not concerned about high refresh rates. Do you have any advice on specific products? (i.e. the AMD 2600 vs 2600X / B450M Tomahawk vs B450 Gaming Plus vs others...)

Under $800. I'm using a TV for a monitor (1080p, 60hz).

Looking at the B450 Tomahawk, AMD Ryzen 5 2600X Processor Wraith Spire Cooler, and the G.SKILL TridentZ Series 16GB DDR4. With shipping it's about $750.

I can get the 2600 for about $100 cheaper; is the 2600X worth the extra cost?

Also wondering if this is a worthwhile upgrade based on my current system specs. The CPU seems to be where my current bottleneck is. Will this likely make a decent difference or would it be better to keep milking what I have and wait a couple more years to upgrade?
