Hi everyone this morning I've received all my components to build my new computer. :D

  • Motherboard : Gigabyte F2A88XM-D3H
    CPU : AMD Athlon X4 860K
    PSU : Cooler Master G650M
GC : MSI GeForce GTX 760 Twin Frozr
    HDD : Seagate 1TB SATA3
    RAM * 2 : Crucial 4GB DDR3 - 1600(PC3-12800) UDIMM 240-PIN
    Wireless PCI : TP-Link-WN951
    OD : SAMSUNG-SH-224DB/BEBE
Once I had connected everything I turned it ON, the ventigrad started to turn etc, etc, I was like "YAAAAY :pt1cable: " but then I looked at the monitor and I was "NOOOOOPE :ouch: "... The monitor was displaying "No Signal" and I also noticed there was no beeping (though I've installed the MoBo Speaker).

So I checked all the wires/components everything was fine, I restarted the computer... Still nothing !

Then I arrived here on this forum and a lot of people were having this problem and I tried everything :
I've completed every single thing of this thread. Still nothing...

Also checked that one. Helpless...

And here is all the other test I've done :

NOTE that all these test were done without the GC, HDD, OD and Wireless PCI connected, only the MoBo, PSU, CPU and the RAM. I also tried outside the computer case.

I tried each RAM stick in each slots, still nothing.

I also used my brother's RAM stick that work fine on his computer ( I couldn't use other components because he has a non self-build computer and components are well fixed inside the case), still nothing.

I started the computer without any RAM stick... The computer started beeping non-stop like the Apollo 13 Master Allarm. Which is normal after all, am I right ?!

I tried to unplug the CPU power cable and the RAM sticks at the same time -> no beeping which seems normal.

So what's the problem...? Any idea ? I really need some help...please... :??:

Solution
• The CPU is supported, the BIOS may need to be updated but it should at least allow the CPU to work to some degree.
• The heatsink overheating means the CPU is overheating... that can lead to; no display, shutdowns, restarts.
• The question would be; why does it not post with the RAM installed?... It may be it's not compatible = The stock RAM voltage may be incompatible with the motherboard. What Crucial model is it?
• You cold try a different RAM module.. if the computer runs, check the BIOS RAM voltage and adjust it to the RAM's stock voltage.

EDIT: I see you have already tried different RAM but at the same time you said the CPU heatsink was hot... so the CPU may have been overheating and that may be why it did not post. I'd suggest you run the computer with the different RAM and while waiting for any activity keep your finger touching the heatsink trying to detect overheating.

What does this following quote tell you?... He says a BIOS message tells it doesn't recognize the CPU... But even so it must be allowing the CPU to work partially or else the display would be completely blank... right?.. I don't think it's BIOS trouble to recognize the CPU due to overheating because it would shutdown long before getting to 97 degrees celsius, so that temp reading must an error.

" He says a BIOS message tells it doesn't recognize the CPU" That post is from 2008 and is not related to the issue above.
Can you point to the post in this thread where he says getting a BIOS message? I've rechecked and got only:
"The monitor was displaying "No Signal"
or
"BIG UPDATE :
- tried with different GPU, still no post
- tried with different RAM, still no post
- sent back the MOBO, got a new one, tested it... NO POST :("

Every single thread related to FM2(+) boards not supporting CPUs and needing a BIOS update specifies that there's no video signal..
Have you recently tested a board with a CPU that requires a BIOS update?

I know the 2008 quote is not related to the issue here, I was referring to your last comment where you said my statement that "the BIOS should allow the CPU to work to some degree" is not true. And the 2008 quote says otherwise.

About the BIOS messaging unrecognized CPU, it's on the 2008 post and It says:
"I just finished assembling my new home computer (specs listed below) and when I boot up it tell me that the bios does not recognize my CPU and that I need an bios update. I also get a high cpu temp warning".
. The BIOS here did not recognize the CPU but it still managed to give a video message.. How can it do that without a working CPU?

I have not recently tested FM2+ motherboards... but I have answered multiple such cases where a simple BIOS reset managed to turn video on.

If you have checked the motherboard's CPU compatibility page, the info there says the AMD Athlon X4 860K is compatible with the F6 BIOS update and the same BIOS version is needed for most 100% compatible APUs, so that to me means the motherboard may already have a compatible BIOS.
Both Motherboard and CPU are from early and mid 2014... two versions of the - GA-F2A88XM-D3H motherboard (rev. 3.0 and 3.1) need the F6 and F7 BIOS version to use the AMD Athlon X4 860K and both F6 and F7 BIOS versions are from 2011.... all this means the Athlon X4 860K should be fully compatible with the motherboard... I doubt Gigabyte would release a motherboard with early 2011 and outdated BIOS versions.

A friend of mine had the same issue on a new FM2+ build Asus mobo with the same chipset and a A-6600K APU... he was urged to flash the BIOS but the blank display made it impossible for him... so I suggested a BIOS reset and that turned video on.
The no video issue on new builds is common and it can happens with any CPU or APU... I have suggested a BIOS reset and many times it has helped... It can even suddenly happen on long used hardware... so it's not necessarily always an outdated BIOS and unsupported CPU. Maybe most of the times but not necessarily always.
