New Computer Build with Windows 7 upgrade

So i can get windows 7 ultimate upgrade for $19.99 through an education deal. As i understand, i have to have XP, vista or 7 installed on the computer.

Can i buy a 32 bit XP edition (or vista edition), do the ultimate upgrade, and have 64 bit? Is this possible?

not sure about 64bit.why not find a 64 bit version of vista to be sure.does your processor support 64bit?
