New computer fan is loud

Solution
It is probably the cpu cooler, I had the same problem with the 8 core processor from amd. Have a look through the window and see if there is a fan mounted blowing down, and if it is about 80mm then that is likely to be your culprit, especially if it is mostly underload. If this is the problem the only solution is to replace, I find them to be loud and ineffective, which resulted in my computer crashing due to heavy load. Best bet to replace it with is a hyper 212 evo, I am using one now and it is quiet and keeps the cup cool. If you don't want to change it you could probably find a local computer shop although it will void any warranty as they usually dislike changes to initial spec.

Unless you feel comfortable entering BIOS and making some changes, and/or moving fan cables around in the case to different supply points, you may want to have a PC shop do it for you.

You first have to figure out which fan or fans are running at full speed. Then, if they are case fans, if they are connected direct to the PSU or not. If so, they will always run at full speed. If connected to the MB, there's a chance they can be speed adjusted in BIOS. If nothing else, you can always add resistors in line with the fan cables to slow them down.

In the case of the CPU cooler fan, the BIOS should control that according to the amount of cooling the CPU requires at any time... unless it is set to full speed in BIOS, in which case it will run at full speed all the time.

Thanks for the response. And yeah the 80mm CPU fan is loud, I'll replace it with the CPU fan you suggested.
