I have been using an 5 year low level DELL for way to long. It is time for me to upgrade. I am considering building a PC myself if I am going to save money but I have no idea how to choose the pieces.

Approximate Purchase Date: The next week or so. I would purchase today if the deal couldn't be pasted up.

Budget Range: $400 - $500 I guess... I don't mind spending a few extra dollars if it makes a huge difference.

System Usage from Most to Least Important: I do very little on my home machine. I use the internet and stream HD movies to my PS3. I haven't played any games in years.

Are you buying a monitor: I have a 22 inch monitor now that I think I can use.

I choose the parts and I will build it...

Thanks in advance.

lol, FX CPUs shouldn't be used at all, let me show how you make a decent home/light gaming PC for less than 500$

Motherboard: ASRock H77M Micro ATX LGA1155 Motherboard ($69.99 @ Newegg)
Memory: Corsair XMS3 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($37.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($74.98 @ Amazon)
Video Card: XFX Radeon HD 7770 1GB Video Card ($104.99 @ NCIX US)
Case: Cooler Master RC-361-KKN1 (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case ($29.99 @ Newegg)
Power Supply: Corsair Builder 430W 80 PLUS Certified ATX12V Power Supply ($36.98 @ Newegg)
Optical Drive: Lite-On iHAS124-04 DVD/CD Writer ($15.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Total: $500.90

gj idroid for all the builds you posted, thats really alot of effort.

well on the topic, I just wanted to add that if OP does not want to buy a discrete GPU, a Liano CPU might be a better alternative.

You see the everyday tasks that you use your computer (office, brownsing, watching a movie) does not stress CPU so the differecne in performance in contrast to a Pentium is going to go unnoticed. However, the increased GPU performance will help in more demanding situations, like streaming an HD movie or playing a light game. The way I see it, it gives more options without sacrificing anything important.

What do you think?
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/hPSp

I would like to order everything today from Newegg unless I can get a much better deal somewhere else. I am looking to stay under $500 without the OS.
This computer will hardly ever be used for games. I will mostly use it for work (database manipulation), internet and to stream Blue-ray mkv files to my PS3.

I don't think I will ever upgrade this computer after I build it. I am using a Dell with only 1 gig of ram that is over 4 years old now so anything I buy will be an upgrade.

Thanks in advance for your help.
