New computer old hdd

So my plan with my new build... I’m going to buy a new hard drive and OS but I also have a solid state in my old computer with my steam games on it. Would I be able to remove it and plug it into my new computer or will I have to wipe it before I do that?

If it is the OS drive then you will have to wipe it and reinstall Windows, Windows doesnt like to switch to new motherboards.

If all you want to do is use the Steam games on the new PC with a new OS installed, there is a work-around.

In your case it sounds like you would simply skip step 4.

I agree your steam games userfiles can be backed up and your personal data as well, and start over with fresh copy of windows, load steam, and reinstall the games

Yes.
Just have to tell the new Steam client where those games live on the other drive.
