i just built a new computer and installed 2 corsair sp120 fans in the top of the case (Fractal Design Define s). when i installed them as exhust fans the made no noise. after realizing that, i turned them over since i wanted them to be intake fans and then they started making a very annoying sound. because their frame is touching the top of the case they are making this loud sound. when i take them out they are dead silent but when screwing them back on top they keep making that noise. any suggestions on how to stop it? thanks!

Solution
Hot air rises, having top fans as intake just shoves that hot air back down into the case.

Front, side, bottom should be intakes

rear, top should be exhaust

Corsair AF fans are for air flow and should be used in unrestricted to simi-unrestricted placements -> intake and exhaust
Corsair SP fans are for static pressure and should be used for heat sinks and radiates where the flow of air is restricted by the cooling elements.

yes i know i should've gone with the air flow ones. the build was supposed to be a little different so i got these ones for a radiator. anyway thanks, i switched it to exhaust and change the fan speed to maintain positive pressure,-what i was going for with the intake. thank you very much!
