Hi, I just updated to a new intel i5 6600k and asrock z170 extreme 4 (from an FX 6300). I also picked up a new H100i v2 cooler. So after plugging everything, all the parts of the computer are running except that there is no display out onto my monitor and i've tried the multiple output modes my monitor supports (hdmit, dvi, dvi-D). Can anyone point me in the direction to troubleshoot this situation? Thank you.

Solution
No, sounds like either a faulty RAM slot for the mobo or a bad kit.
Test with both kits, one in the second slot, followed by the same stick in the fourth slot, test every stick individually in every slot and tell me which combinations boot.
Do you have a graphics card you can troubleshoot with?
Do you have a TV/second monitor you could try using as the output?
AsRock have always been very hit and miss with their mobo connections over the past few years in my experience, had a few of them come back to the store.

I have a gtx 970 in there and i've tried the video ports on the card as well as the mobo, with no response. The computer is running and getting power to the fans it seems. But this mobo was also an open box item from microcenter... I'm assuming they'd check that is works before they sell it right? Would a faulty mobo still power the fans, cooler and graphics card? Is this due to the fact i switched from AMD Fx 6300? so many questions..

i picked up the mobo for 63 bucks, it was half price from the original 130ish. Is there nothing else I can do to troubleshoot why it may not be displaying?

Also, I heard that new CPUs are suppose to make a beep sound? I don't think i heard one the first time i powered up the new cpu and mobo.

How would I go about reseting the CMOS? is it specific for each different mobo brand? Also I'd added a pic of what it looks like incase that helps.

I tried the reset cmos and nothing changed. But i just noticed that when it powers on, it seems to power reset 3-4 times in a row before staying on.. Is that an indicator of anything?

Edit: so theres an LED on the mobo that flashes 00 19 4C 26 over and over before freezing on the 26. Anyone know what that could mean?

Jesus, I tried taking out one of the RAM sticks for the hell of it cause I didn't know what else to try swapping... and it booted up and ran windows. Anyone know why I can't run 2 8gb sticks? I used to run 2 4gb sticks on my set up i just replaced... weird. Guess I gotta return the new ddr4 RAM or figure out what I need to do to run both. Thanks for your help!

Sounds RAM related.

Very strange, so you have a new kit of RAM that you installed and it just won't boot with them in?
Still in slots 2 and 4?

I tried using one at a time for both and the computer boots up fine when it only has 1 either one plugged in. Seems like they just don't run together. Do I need to reconfigure something for RAM to run two at a time? or is it a faulty RAM and I should try switching to new ones?

I know for sure that dual combinations in any configuration don't work because I tried that before. the single ones work in A1 slot but haven't tried them singly in the other slots but im assuming it'd work. it seems like the dual channel set up isn't working. maybe updating my bios/drivers could fix it? i'll probably end up returning them for another set thats on the mobo compatability list just to avoid any problems with RAM.

Well the mobo has 4 ram slots that are named A1, A2, B1, B2 on the mobo labels. I'll def try alternating slots later this weekend. Thanks for the help Chugalug, i'll post an update soon.

Just checked the compatability list for z170 extreme4 memory and my brand of RAM is only supported for 8gb 🙁 well that settles that.
