Hey guys.
I'm looking to upgrade to a Sapphire Dual-X Radeon R9 270X GPU and a AMD FX6300 CPU.
I know both these components work on my mobo , I was wondering about the PSU though.
I am currently running a 500w psu and have a radeon 7770 and a athlon II x2 at 3.4 GHz with no problems. Would I need to upgrade at all?
The coolermaster calculator says I draw 305w with my current build , and will draw 401w with my upgraded build.
However , the newegg calculator says I will draw 886w? And that is with less components added to the equation. Is this a way for newegg to get people to buy new PSUs from them?
EDIT: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/ says I will draw 364w with my upgraded build?

Anyway ,
I figured I should check here before I buy.
Thanks!

I'd recommend going through a PSU calculator to get accurate information - anything anyone says here will just be an opinion. Extreme Outervision has been a really accurate power calculator in my experience, and takes into account pretty much every component of your build.

My guess though is that the 500w PSU would be capable of running that build. Way too many people assume that a decent GPU and Processor means you need an 800w+ PSU. I just build my brother in law's machine running a 4930K, 4 high rpm HDDs, and Dual OC'd 7950s (used) and its running fine with a 600w PSU. This calculator pegged the max draw at 582w. Sure enough, every power testing application I ran did not see it exceeding 575w.

Use a calculator, its the...

What PSU do you have?

Use a calculator, its the best way to get the most accurate idea of power consumption.
