G1/Xtreme Gaming Windforce LED "Potential" Fix Steps:

1- Close whatever OC program you use for your G1/Extreme Gaming
2- Download and install v1.98 of OC Guru II **NEW VERSION** http://www.gigabyte.com/support-downloads/utility.aspx?cg=3
3- After you have OC Guru II installed, go the LED section and apply the LED setting(s) you want your GPU to display
4- Click "APPLY" and ensure that the settings adhere as you set them
5- Ensure that NO OC or FAN profile is set in OC GURU II when doing this/prior to step 4
6- Restart your PC to ensure the LED profile you applied stayed in-place/is working
7- IF the LED profile worked, and you are satisfied with the LED profile you have... UNINSTALL OC GURU II from your PC **KEEP THE DOWNLOAD FILE**...
I have a r9 280X by Gigabyte and the OC guru 2 software won't open either and it isnt just you and I it is a bug which Gigabyte has been trying to fix for ages and still haven't. If I were you I would use msi afterburner as I find it a better software than evga's but again it is up to you

yah like i said it could be in your task tray so the bottom right of your task bar in that tray over there. mines works fine and everything besides when i record using playstv the memory goes to stock if i record and the led is still messed up

Mine used to work until a few day ago, it didn't change the LED's color at startup, went to the task tray (opens at startup) and it wasn't there also. tried opening it again and nothing would appear in the task tray or in task manager.

Now I have my gpu with a white light rather then the red as I like it.

I personally prefer using msi afterburner for overclocking and tucking things around. I only use OC Guru for changing the led color of the GPU's. However, at the end of the day its a matter of personal preference

How do you change the colors? I can't find the option anywhere.

The led option should appear on the latest versions of OC Guru in the bottom left and bottom middle quadrants. https://www.google.es/search?q=oc+guru+changing+led+color&espv=2&biw=1280&bih=595&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwipwrrV5YfKAhVMfxoKHe1ZDWwQ_AUIBygC&dpr=2.5#imgrc=MQ7x2oV1LvVqVM%3A

You also need to take into account that you might need to change the led color configuration almost every time you start up your pc if you are use to turn it off as I am. Its not ideal, but as of right now its what it is...

If you are still having problems you might want to check your OC Guru version and your drivers version. This are some links that might also help you solve the problem in case you encounter additional problems:

My oc guru started randomly working again a few days ago, I have made no changes to my computer nor have I re-installed.

Just a few day before this I had contacted Gigabyte "ok" support team and they weren't really understanding my simple program till it started working again. I replied to support ticket stating that the program was working and everything is fine now and they replied with the following:

We cannot determine what other software you may have running in the background which might cause it. Let us know if there are any other questions.

Wondering the same because I am EXTREMELY angry right now.

I was running GTA V smoothly, wasn't paying attention to temps or fan speed at the moment, since temps escalated extremely quickly. I was tinkering with the settings to get a perfect 60 fps at 1440p. When suddenly I decided to put everything down a notch and I was asked to restart. When back to the desktop during the restart I saw my gpu temps in CAM at 88C (highest recorded: 91C)! I was outraged and I quickly force quit GTA V and I checked to see if OC guru was running, which it was but the fans weren't running correctly. At this point the fans were were going haywire. So I uninstalled OC guru and I started just using afterburner.

I wanna hear more about the bIos thing.

I have managed to get my OC Guru 2 software to run now and can now control my lights on my Gigabyte GTX 970 Extreme.

I did a check on windows 10 "SFC /Scannow" and found that I had some issues that could not be fixed so reinstalled Windows 10 and did the scan again until it was clear. After that installed the OC Guru and worked fine from then.

Thanks i try. Im hating this software i want change my led colors!

I know, that was my issue and had been talking to Gigabyte support for several days before I decided to reinstall Windows.

I've reinstalled windows 10 working, installed win 7 not working, installed win 10 again not working, reinstalled another time windows 10 now it works. After updated win 10 not works again. In all i've installed only os nvidia drivers and oc guru. I don't understand but this is the worst software i've ever seen.... If the shop take back mi 980 xtreme i'll take another brand. Gigabyte never see my money again im going mad only to change a color led..... There is a new version on the site but same problem......

I was looking for a way to mod the bios gpu and change the default color at startup, any ideas ? Because gigabyte seems doesn't care about this issues ......

I don't think there is a way to do that.

However on mine I noticed that once changed in the GURU software the colour is constant even when not in Windows so maybe it updates the card.

So could you put in another system and update using software and then when you put it back in yours the colour may have been saved.

Thanks For the reply. The only time i was able to change the color when i restart the pc the color come back to Orange until Windows and oc guru are loaded. Your keep the color also during post ?

Yes mine stays the colour I changed it to even when not in Windows.

Mine is a 970 Extreme so not sure if its different.
