G1/Xtreme Gaming Windforce LED "Potential" Fix Steps:

1- Close whatever OC program you use for your G1/Extreme Gaming
2- Download and install v1.98 of OC Guru II **NEW VERSION** http://www.gigabyte.com/support-downloads/utility.aspx?cg=3
3- After you have OC Guru II installed, go the LED section and apply the LED setting(s) you want your GPU to display
4- Click "APPLY" and ensure that the settings adhere as you set them
5- Ensure that NO OC or FAN profile is set in OC GURU II when doing this/prior to step 4
6- Restart your PC to ensure the LED profile you applied stayed in-place/is working
7- IF the LED profile worked, and you are satisfied with the LED profile you have... UNINSTALL OC GURU II from your PC **KEEP THE DOWNLOAD FILE**...
Finally i've been Able to change the color and solve some issues. Oc guru it sucks it taked me 3 days 30 more hours only for change a led color. For oc use another software trust me.

Thankyou !!!!!!! Really thank you! With this link you solved all my issues i've surfed the web for 3 days with no resoults to resolve my problem. I really don't know how to thank you now i can play with a silent fast cold and colored card like i want ! Thank you another time i don't have to rma my card, now i go play at all my games :) Bye
p.s. Gigabyte support sucks 🙁

Thank you so much. I went to my task tray and clicked the up arrow to show my hidden icons, and i dragged it out onto the task tray. I clicked on it and it launched OC Guru II perfectly fine. THANK YOU SO MUCH I've been dealing with this for 2-3 months now!!!

Running both OC Guru and AB (or any other OC program for that matter) simultaneously will cause conflicts with your GPU and possible audio issues. Just my .02 cents.

In my case oc guru was working only with win 7 64 after a lot of tests and formatting many time and now with no reason stopped working. No updates, nothing installed new ecc.... i've changed nothing and it stopped working then i've installe all the others brand oc software and they also run together at the same time (also if is useless but just for try) ! I've spend too much time with this software opened a ticket with gigabyte but it was a waste of time so i have a partition with only win 7 64 and oc guru 1.96 installed when i want to change my led color. The most stupid solution i have found sorry.

I hate oc guru and is trash but how can i change color led via software without it ?

custom bios. not only can you get whatever color you want but a host of other performance improvements.

I've modded the bios with Maxwell tweaker and i can't see how to change led colors. Can you tell us how to do please ?

Gigabyte does not seem to put a lot of forethought and/or upkeep into their software side of things in general... Not only is OC Guru unreliable but their "AppCenter" suite for motherboards is also touch-n-go as well. They've all but abandoned that software suite and any issues end-users have.

I had to RMA my Gigabyte GTX 980 Ti Xtreme Gaming because it was not responding to anything in OC Guru (Guru was not keeping settings or crashing) and was also causing issues with my PC audio as well.

When I get my replacement card, I am using MSI's Afterburner and Riva Tuner exclusively for OC and fan settings and the LED will remain white. This is to avoid and prevent any issues.

Mine does the same. It runs as far as "Do you want this programs to make changes to this computer?..." Then, after "Yes", it just disappears from the screen with a beep.

8- Your LED profile SHOULD remain in-place
9- If so, restart your PC to verify
10- If all is well, keep the OC GURU II v1.98 download file on your PC (as a matter of convenience) as you can rerun these steps, in order to change your LED setup whenever you choose to do so

These steps worked for me, as I use MSI AB for my OC and OSD. It may not work for you... If it does, great! If not, I cannot say what to do... Good luck!

WORKS ! Thanks man 😉

Awesome! Glad it worked fer you.

I just wanted to check - does this continue to work after a full shutdown? In my previous experience with OC Guru II the LED's would stay the color you selected through a restart, but would be lost upon doing a full shutdown and cold boot. Note that I do not use Windows Fast Startup so I actually do real full shutdowns, not the hibernation method that Fast Startup entails.

Hmm, no answer, guess I'll ask you since you said you've tried it :)

Hey Qwinn remember me? I helped you put together your build last year. I was the one who suggested the Gigabyte 980 Ti's for your system. What a coincidence, we happen to be on the same thread almost 1 yr later.

Hey GKC! I absolutely do remember, and the advice you guys gave was fantastic. It really did turn out to be a killer machine. You know what the best part was? A few weeks after I had it assembled, I discovered NVidia 3D Vision. I'd never even *heard* of it, but I had everything I needed (well, besides the glasses and emitter, which were on sale that week, lol), including the ROG Swift, which I bought for the GSync but I've never used because you can't run it simultaneous with 3D Vision, which is *all* I use now, heh. It really is freaking amazing in most games, and Witcher 3 in 1440p 3D Vision would absolutely blow you away if you haven't seen it. Frankly, who needs VR?

I have a g1 gaming 980 ti oc edition as well, but oc guru 2 won't even start! What's wrong??

I'd also like to know how the custom bios helps with the LED control? I've had the custom bios from oc.net installed and didn't see the function?
