100% Disk usage since the upgrade om my gpu?!
Hi! I've recenlty upgraded my gpu from a gtx 660 to a gtx 1070, but after the upgrade i noticed that the computer is running really slow and the disk usage is at 100% as soon as i start a new program or do a new activity (like moving a folder). My powersupply is 600W and the minimum for the card is 500W, could that be the problem? I have wiped the old drivers of and installed the new one two times with no results, and i have updated BIOS. I have also tried to turn of things like "windows search" and "BITS" but it didnt help much.
Pls help me if you have the knowledge!

Solution
It's a windows problem. I had it. There are plenty of solves out there on the internet, just search for "windows 100 disk usage" on Google. If nothing works, reinstall Windows, it solved for me. It's nothing about hardware, don't worry.
We As A pc helper and.pc.upgrading consultant recommend the pc members to change the windows after any.hardware.upgrade. I dont think the main problem of that issue was because. Of ur psu . So thats not the problem. In my.idea u.mist change the windows first. After that if the problem again faced u should take a look on ur cpu and ur ram too. Unfortunately u didnt mentioned ur cpu . But be sure.its not about ur psu i appreciate ur.works but if these.works didnt respond to ur.problem well u need to change windows and.after that check ur cpu uaage and health and temperature .

Nope, the only time this is generally recommended is when changing the CPU/Motherboard/Storage Device (HDD to SSD or replacing a HDD or SSD), most of the time it is uninstalling old drivers and reinstalling new ones.

To the OP - Have you tried uninstalling the old drivers for the GPU and installing the new ones? That could affect it.

Also, when you go in task manager, what is taking up most of the Disk usage?

If you change your GPU back does it stop the 100% disk usage issue?

Open task manager , open resource manager , open the disk tab.
The middle box (read/write processes) will show you exactly what is eating disk usage.

I've had massive issues with the nvidia experience program constantly scanning files (nvcompat or something) so I've entirely removed the process from scheduled processes.

Yes i have tried that two times without results. There are 5-9 programs that take up 0.1MB/S each. Cpu usage is at 0% and memory is at 21%. Swiching cards fixes the issue yes, but when i swich back i get 100% disk usage again. Thx for helping.

Might not fix the issue, but have you tried defragging your Hard Drive, or scanning for errors while the 1070 is installed?

It's all built into windows, not sure which version you're running, my guess either 10 or 7, but go into Windows Explorer > Computer > Right click hard drive (C: Drive) > Properties > Tools > Error Checking and or Defragmentation.

This may assist you, some fixes may seem unobvious and quite unusual for what they are, but it's worth a try.

May also not be a cause, but have you done a virus scan, just in case?

can you take a screen grab showing process for disk usage in resource manager??
