Uhm can someone help me? I bought a second hand Rx 580 2048sp so after my gpu arrived I immediately install the gpu first I uninstalled the previous driver using DDU then shutdown take out the old gpu(gt 710) and put the new gpu(Rx 580) then I turn on the PC it only displays black screen I can't even have a chance to boot to the bios it's just black screen but the PC is on, the fans are spinning the light indicator on the gpu is on as well, I tried putting back my old gpu and it displays normal so I think there's no problem with other components.

I have tried booting to the bios using the old gpu to change the gpu from Auto to PEG, it didn't work. Tried PEG to IGD it still doesn't work. I have tried to disable the Intel integrated graphics as well still doesn't work. So for me I feel like the power supply is the real culprit here since this is a big jump from gt 710 to Rx 580 2048sp I think the power supply cant support the new gpu since my psu is generic and it so old it said 650w but I don't think so.

So I asked the seller if there's any problem with the card he just said let me see your psu so I did I send him the picture of my psu and he said it's not enough it is only 420w he based it on 12v*35a so I might need a psu with a 12v*43a+ to support the gpu.

So will buying a new psu fix my problem? Btw it's my first ever post here in this website so im still learning what these buttons and icons do.

Those were popular with bitcoin miners with possible BIOS mods.

I think that I know exactly what your problem is because I had it happen to me with my mother's PC. I also got an RX 580 2048SP, with the intention of putting it in my mother's PC. For her using an R9 Fury with a TDP of 275W was a complete waste of electricity and the 150W RX 580 2048SP would be much better. However, like you, the card wouldn't output anything in her PC even though the fans were spinning and everything else seemed normal.

I thought that the card was dead and I was given a full refund on it from AliExpress. I kept the card to tinker with it and learn to take cards apart safely (I took the cooler off, replaced the thermal pads with thermal paste and pasted the die).

I have a small rig that I use for tinkering around. It has an R7-1700 on a Biostar A320M-A motherboard, 16GB of DDR4-2400, a 500GB SATA SSD and, depending on what I'm doing, it will have either an HD 5450 or an R9 Fury in the video card slot. So, I pulled the HD 5450 and popped in the RX 580 2048SP and it worked immediately. I was kinda shocked but I said "Well, I may as well run GPU-Z to see if it's legit." and, sure enough, it was legit. I did the AMD driver auto-detect and it recognised the card as an RX 580 2048SP. I ran DDU, installed the new driver package and everything just worked. I restarted the PC several times and the card just worked. I felt kinda bad that I had received a full refund for the card at that point because the thing was working.

So, I brought it back to my mother's house and tried installing it in her PC again, but again, nothing. To say that I was confused and frustrated would be an understatement because I built my first PC in 1988 and over the years, I had never seen a video card behave like this. I got lucky and found a brand-new Powercolor RX 6500 XT for the equivalent of $112USD (it was like finding the holy grail) and installed it into her PC. It worked from the beginning and it sips power (TDP of 107W).

Luckily, while giving tech advice over on TechPowerUp, I encountered some guys who were really into card-modding and BIOS flashing. They told me that some RX 580 models do not like non-UEFI motherboards and my mother has a Gigabyte 990FX motherboard with the original legacy BIOS on it.

What is the model of your motherboard and does it have UEFI?

Based on the "System Information" it said the system model is "Samsung Desktop System". The system manufacturer is "SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS CO.,LTD" I'm using Legacy Bios but on the bios there's an option where I can choose to enable or disable the uefi boot

I see two more possibilities on your problem. First is the RX 580 you purchased is working fine, but it won't work with the Legacy bios of your pc. The second possibility is, the RX 580 is actually dead, and you got scammed - is there proof that it has been working before it got sold to you, have you seen it being used by the seller?
______

also have a Samsung Desktop System mobo. And it's a very old motherboard, oldest here in the house.
so far all the Nvidia gpu's I've used with it worked. It first had an Asus GT 1030, then I upgraded further to an Asus Mini GTX 1650.
cpu: q9500
ram: 4gb ddr3
psu: 550w seasonic
gpu: Asus Mini GTX 1650 GDDR6

View: https://youtu.be/k2jMHaJggG4

0:00 - 0:19 CPU-Z to show Q9500, GPU-Z to show the 1650, and HWMonitor to show that temps are normal.
1:33 - Street Fighter V - playable at 900p
4:55 - Xenon Racer - playable at 1080p.
18:29 - Black Tail - just barely playable at 720p medium. And I really mean, just barely. lol

I just converted from Legacy Bios to Uefi still no display and the seller also send a video of it working before shipping out but I really doubt this motherboard cause yeah it is very old but I don't wanna spend money when I don't even know whats the problem

Since that's clearly a motherboard from a brand-in-a-box desktop PC, I don't think that there will be any BIOS updates for it.

If enabling UEFI boot won't fix it, there's also the possibility that the card is defective. Go over to TechPowerUp's Graphics Card Forum and ask there. Sometimes these miners flash a tempermental BIOS onto the cards. There's information that you can get from GPU-Z that would say which card BIOS you should use.

Huh, that's weird. AFAIK, this is the only card ever made that sometimes wouldn't work without UEFI. Now, I find out that some of them won't work with UEFI...

We have now officially entered:

if it's just a video. You can never be sure it's the same working gpu he shipped to you. He used a working RX 580 gpu on his pc to show that the gpu "working", and then sent to you a dead RX 580 that he had lying around the house. If you bought from a miner, they can have plenty of similar gpu's.

anyway, if your mobo is working with your 710, then there's probably nothing wrong with it. Is there a pc repair shop near your house? Take the gpu there. Test it on one of their pc. So that we can see if the RX 580 is dead or working.

nice to hear that. Then your money did not go to waste.
looks like it's simply incompatibility with the legacy bios of your mobo.

I suggest consider buying another pc. A refurbished pc is cheap, something with at least 4th gen intel cpu would go well with your RX 580. Of course, if you could afford something better than a 4th gen, then go for that.
