Hello all. I am looking for a new GPU for my gaming rig. I will be playing mostly new games such as Dying Light, Call of Duty, Sims, and many more. I have a dual monitor setup (No surround gaming) and I am looking into a Geforce GTX 780ti. It was during my research that I came across the Radeon HD 7990. Most benchmarks showed that it came in close to Titan with performance. Since I can find great deals on the HD 7990, is the 780ti worth it? Or should i go with the 7990? I will be playing games at a 1920x1080 resolution. I prefer Nvidia, but I'm willing to use an AMD Gpu if it means better performance

Solution
The 7990 is a dual gpu card. It has two 7970s (r9 280x). Several games have issues with sli/crossfire (especially crossfire). I have a friend with a gtx 760 who plays most games at max detail at 50+fps on a 1080p monitor, while powering 2 other monitors for web surfing and other stuff. I've seen him do dual monitor for some games and it's okay, but fps goes down a bit.

The gtx 970 is much better than the gtx 760.

I don't think you need a 980.

Maybe get r9 390

Although I've heard it has initial driver issues.

That 7990 is 2 generations old. AMD doesn't have the best driver support, so I wouldn't advise buying a card that is already that old - it may lose support too soon.

Getting a gtx 980 may be better for you. What is your budget?

My budget is about as much as what a gtx 970 would cost (around $300) I could wait and until I have at least $500 or more to spend on a GPU alone. Like I said, I found a great deal on an HD 7990. Should I just get a 970? Or save up for a 980? I prefer nvidia
