Question New Gpu Install have to boot twice to get a picture.

New to the group so hello,

Mobo - X570 MEG ACE
PSU - 1k Rog Strix
Ram - Trident neo 64gb
CPU - 5900x
GPU - XFX 7900xtx

Bought a 7900xtx installed it, couldn't get a picture. Thought it might be a bios issue so I updated my mobo bios. Unplugged and plugged in wires to psu, cleared cmos etc. Still couldn't get picture. After one reboot decided to leave it on as I saw on my mobo it registering cpu temps instead of running through cycles. 5 min later got a picture. Installed drivers for GPU then reset pc. No picture post cycling over and over. Turned the pc off and then back on waited about a min and got a picture again.

Today I go to turn on my pc and the same issue occurs. Mobo post cycle and no picture. Shut down and turned back on picture instantly no issues. I cant seem to figure out the problem. This only started occurring when I installed the new GPU.

You state new GPU, what GPU were you on prior? Did you sun DDU prior to removing your older GPU off of the platform? BIOS verison for your motherboard?

6900 xt, Did use DDU, and the most recent version of msi bios, it came out on 4/3/2023 this year.

tldr I was having the same issue and I seem to have fixed it I did two things
- Download the chipset drivers
- Remove all USB hubs

I was very much suspecting it was a pci lane limitation thing considering I have 2 SSDs and 3 HDDs and that my GPU only works in 8x8 bifurcated mode for some reason (PC does not boot after clearing CMOS, when that happens I need to pop in my old GPU and change the BIOS settings) so first of all I updated the chipset driver which was probably deleted by DDU (or never downloaded in the first place, nobody downloads chipset drivers) the second thing I did was disconnecting everything from the USB hub and connecting it all directly to the motherboard (I don't actually know if having a lot of stuff from a single port actually stresses the lane but it did work for me) sadly I did those together so I cant know what actually fixed it.
A couple more things that may help you if you're having the same issue
-unninstall MSI afterburner or any other program that may be competing with Nvidia's/AMD's
- Using a DDU equivalent made by Nvidia:

-Change the setting in the bios from PCI-e 16x to 8x8 (idk it works for me)
Good luck, as a temporary solution you may change the sleeping settings in your PC so you can use it in the meantime, and relax it does not appear to be a hardware problem.
