New GPU recommendation

I recently aquired a PC with an i5-6400, 16 gb ram, 450w power supply. Z97 gaming 3 Mobo. It came with a GTX 750 but I was having trouble with the driver's so I installed my Rx460. I'm considering upgrading and would like some feedback on the best bang for my buck. I'm seeing that 1050s and 1060s are about the price I paid for the rx460 two years ago so I'm within that price range of 100-250 USD. Suggestions?

I'm fond of AMD so keep that in mind. But if given valuable reason I can consider nividia.

Also. I still have my old rig with a 500w power supply but I'm unsure at this time if it is 80+ bronze. Will take suggestions on a card requiring 500w too until I can verify.

GTX 1060 6GB or RX 580 8GB. I believe the RX 580 8GB is under the $250 price point. Unless you happen to be referring to CAD or AUD.
