New Graphics card compatable on XPS 430?

I'm getting an XPS 430, with the default graphics card (Radeon 3450). I'm planning to step up to a 4870, or GTX 260/280. But is it compatable? Whats the power supply, and does it have a PCI- Express x16 2.0 slot? I know it will fit, but i have to make sure. If i just buy and replace the old one, am i good to go? Please help, since i know a lot of people might be in the same situation.

Well since you are getting the computer why dont you just look at the wattage and i'm sure if it's new it has 2.0 slots

I heard its 425, but it really varies. However, since its an XPS, i expect it to have more..

It doesn't vary, if you're getting the XPS430 you'll be getting a 425 watt psu.
The variations occurred with the XPS 420 that was originally equipped with 375 watt unit unless an 8800GTwas requested, then the 425w would be included.
You would probably not have any luck trying a GTX 280 on it, the 4870 should give no problems at all ( it uses no more power than the 8800 GTX that the 375 watt psu can power.
I'm still trying to figure out the GTX 260, it's power use seems , to me, to be greater than the review site's have led me to believe.

FYI - I own an XPS 430 and when I open the case and look at the PSU it is rated for 375..not 450 as advertised. Kind of a bummer because I put an HD 5770 in there and it is giving me all kinds of troubles.

I have an XPS 420 and recently upgraded my video card to an HD 5850 (which required an upgrade of the 375 watt power supply). What became clear when I was selecting a video card was that if I wanted a serious, more modern GPU I was going to have to spring for the PSU upgrade as well. I went with a Corsair 650 watt PSU (was on sale at Best Buy for $85).

The upgrade was fairly painless, though you will find that it is just a little bit tricky replacing the Dell PSU's (they are sized a bit differently). It will fit, but leaves a little empty space in the back of your case since the Dell unit is taller than a standard ATX unit.

i've always thought dell's computer's components cannot be upgraded/changed as they require only dell parts..

so if i were to buy a new graphic card, just plug out the HD3650 inside, and replace it with the new one?
