So I just bought a brand new Asus Strix 980 from Amazon to replace my reliable Zotac 760 AMP. Installed everything fine, made sure I was grounded at all time with my anti-static wrist strap. Booted up and my monitor, an LG W2261VP, displayed all the regular boot up stuff (BIOS etc.) then the screen just went black. Thought it just turned off for some reason but then the power button didn't work. I've tried 4 difference power cables on different plugs around the house but the monitor's not getting any power what so ever, it's just dead. I can't even test another monitor with the 980 cos I'm petrified it will just kill that one. Not to mention I'm also pretty scared that most of the my other componenets might be screwed.

So obviously I'm fairly pissed. Any one had any experience with stuff like this? Any advice beyond contacting Amazon?

NB: My PSU is a Enermax 82+ Pro 625W

Cheers, that did the job. Left it over-night and my monitor powered up this morning. Decided to put the old 760 back in to test if all my components & monitor were okay and it displayed fine. Put the 980 back in to confirm if it was faulty but low and behold everything displayed and ran perfectly. So I have no idea what the problem was. My only possibly theory is that the 2-pin connector from the PSU didn't go properly in to form the 8-pin, though the lights on the 980 were on and didn't get any warning beeps. So I'm not really sure. But that did the job so thanks a lot.
