Hello this is my second time on this thread and i had this question itching because you guys probably know the answer to this. What graphics card can i be that'll work with a pcie 1.1 and 300 watt psu. Something that gives the most kick for it's dollar. I have an intel core 2 duo 2.5 ghz and some acer mobo which is from 2010 if those specs are helpful in any way. I really just want something i can plug in. Download some drivers and play on. My current gpu is an overclocked 8500 gt which was definately better than my integrated graphics for atleast light gaming. I just wanna be able to play on 1920x1080 on low with some smooth fps of around 90 because some of the games i play like combat arms get laggier in some gamemodes. I usually play games like combat arms, league of legends, maplestory, and bf3 occasionally when bored but currently cant because its really choppy even on the lowest settings.

Solution
If you really just want enough of an upgrade to play games on low then why not go with this?

It's $72 dollars and you won't even need a new power supply. You can play LoL on ultra with that and bf3 on medium. Make sure to get the GDDR 5 version instead of the GDDR 3.

Edit: or 5 dollars extra to get the 2 gb version.

That doesn't make sense. If you get bad fps it's going to be because your cpu is bottle-necking the card. Gaming performance is mostly dependent on the gpu so the fact that he has an i7 just means able to bring out the best in the card and you may not be able to. I don't know what your motherboard specs are, but can't you upgrade to a better cpu for ~$100 and get a budget gpu for ~$100?

edit: the Intel Pentium G3258 is going for $60 right now on amazon. You can get that with the Radeon HD 7770, Radeon R7 250X which is going for about 90 dollars. Then with the leftover money you can get a psu. But I don't know if your motherboard supports these upgrades.

I've already purchased the gt 730 so its a little late for a different gpu. Also my mobo probably doesnt support anything decent and i have no more money to spend. I have $100 but i honestly cant use that because im going to be using it on pc games. I guess ill just have to wait and see but if i save up another 200 what's something to look into?

How long does it take you to save at least 600-700 dollars? I would save all that for a completely new system than try to do upgrades on such an old system. Ideally you want to save at least ~800 so that you won't have to compromise so much when building.

Hello again! I have received this gpu in the morning (gt 730) and by my standards. I was ABSOLUTELY BLOWN AWAY. The gt 730 handled games like league of legends maxed out at 80 fps. It was absolutely rediculous. I had high hopes for this gpu and it certainly proved it's worthiness. I was able to play bf3 at 1080p on medium and boy was it smooth. I was also happy to see combat arms maxed out but lag a bit on the new map that came out because the code isnt well optimized but wow. This one really swept me off me feet. When i get more money on my birthday that's coming up. Im probably gonna save up around $400 and upgrade it further with a new hdd and maybe a 64gb ssd for my operating system a new mobo, psu, and decent cpu. I thank all of u who have given me answers. You're all much appreciated.
