[new graphicscard] Onboard Graphicscard Disabled in BIOS

So I got a graphics car from my mate ( it has been used but was working fully just minutes ago) and all the compatabilities are correct, yet I won't get anywhere further than the shiny Windows flag at startup. hear the pleasant sound of entering login screen yet the screen freezes at the shiny windows flag, not moving an inch.

I tried entering BIOS to see if there was anything out of the ordinary, and noticed that "Onboard Graphics Controller" is [Disabled] and gray. I cannot switch to enabled or even touch the bloody button and I have no idea why.


A bit of info which might or might not be relevant:
Packard Bell iMedia s3840 is the actual computer
AMD Radeon 5570 is my new graphics card

Any answer is helpful and I might have missed out on anything important, just ask!

On most computers, when a discrete graphics card is installed, the onboard card is automatically disabled and remains so unless the discrete card is removed.

Before you installed your discrete card, did you remove the drivers for the onboard card?

No I didn't touch my drivers, I will try that!

I uninstalled my old graphicscard and then put in my new one but I'm still not getting anywhere further than the windows startup flag and I still cant enable Onboard Graphics in BIOS ^.^'

Have you tried booting in Safe Mode or VGA Mode?

How do you boot up in Safe Mode? I don't have any cable at home right now. I can try VGA tomorrow,

Safe Mode and VGA Mode are accessible through the same menu by pressing F8 during the startup process, right after the BIOS screen. On your computer, that screen will likely say "Packard Bell".

It may take a couple of tries to get the timing right for when to push F8.

I started it in Safe Mode successfully, I can see my desktop and all.. what now?

Sounds like a driver problem. Remove all the graphics drivers, and reinstall.

Safe Mode and VGA Mode both use generic graphics drivers instead of the manufacturer's drivers. That makes them good for diagnosing driver problems.

*EDIT* Forgot to mention, you should try using a driver removal tool. I have had good luck with Display Driver Uninstaller, found here: http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html
