Hi all
Earlier today I replaced my GTX 670 with a brand new GTX 1080 graphics card purchased from Amazon. Initially, my monitor wasn't getting a signal from the 1080 & so I had to boot using my onboard graphics card before deactivating it via device manager & then physically reinstalling the 1080.
The 1080 now sends a signal to my monitor & everything looks fine but under device manager & the Nvidea control panel, it states that my card is a 1050. When I tried playing some games, they also stated that my card was a 1050 & only had 2gb ram available. Assuming that it was a driver issue, I reformatted & reinstalled Windows 7 before redownloading the latest drivers. Still the issue remained.
Could it be that my motherboard is too old or that the bios needs updating? Or because I am running Windows 7 rather than Windows 10? I am running out of ideas. I have listed my computer parts below:
Motherboard: ZH77A-G43 (bios 1.60)
CPU: Intel Core I5-3470 Processor
PSU: Corsair Builder Series CXM 600W Modular 80 PLUS Bronze Certified
Operating system: Windows 7 Ultimate
Graphics card: MSI GTX 1080 Gaming X plus 11Gbps
Acer XG270HUomidpx 27-Inch WQHD Gaming Monitor
Thanks in advance to anyone who can offer help
