Hey good morning everyone,
Just bought new graphics card (Gigabyte GTX 1660 Ti) and monitor (Asus VG248QE) from Microcenter to update my desktop build I initially created back in 2011, see build below. Used DDU before installing new GPU. Turn the computer on, see BIOS screen like normal but then when I should see windows logo and start up it goes to a black but powered screen. Not sure if this is an error message but on the bottom right hand corner of my new monitor there is a “0_” shown. Essentially the GPU appears to be having issues outputting to the monitor even though I see it powered, fans spinning, and BIOS recognizes it in either PCIe slot.
Troubleshooting steps I’ve tried so far:
Each time GPU has fans spinning and is recognized in BIOS but no output of windows startup to either monitor.
I’ve placed the old GPU back in and things still work fine. My guesses are:
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Troubleshooting steps I’ve tried so far:
- Display port from GPU to Display port of new monitor
- Display port from GPU to Display port to DVI adapter to DVI of old monitor
- Tried both 6+2 power cables of PSU to GPU
- Tried both PCIe 2.0 slots
Each time GPU has fans spinning and is recognized in BIOS but no output of windows startup to either monitor.
I’ve placed the old GPU back in and things still work fine. My guesses are:
- Driver / Device Manager issue (do I need to disable Standard VGA display adapter before installing new GPU?)
- Faulty GPU
- Some compatibility issue such as PCIe 3.0 of GPU not working with mobo PCIe 2.0
Any help is greatly appreciated!
