I built a computer with a SSD with the operating stystem and a regular hard drive to save everything else on. The SSD works fine, but the regular hard drive is not even showing up in the device management. Any suggestions?

Thank you!

Hey there again, @moisu!

Can you please try the HDD in another computer as well and see how it will get recognized there? If it still doesn't pop up in the other system, I'd strongly recommend you use a docking station or an external enclosure with an AC adapter (for the 3.5" HDDs) to check how the HDD would get detected externally via a USB connection as well.
If it does pop up on the other PC, you should probably try resetting the BIOS on your rig's motherboard. It will get the settings back to factory defaults, so you will need to re-configure all the manual changes you have made in the BIOS (like boot priority, SSD's SATA mode, etc.).

Hope it works. Keep me posted.

Hey there, @moisu!

I'd recommend you try swapping the SATA cable that is connecting the secondary hard drive with a different one, and also check how it will get recognized if you swap the SATA port on the motherboard as well. Does the HDD show up in BIOS? Check if the SATA ports are enabled in the BIOS as well.
I'd suggest you go to Disk Management in Windows and check if it's listed there. You might also want to 'Rescan Disk' while in Disk Management.

Give these a try and let me know how it goes!

I have replaced the SATA cable on the hard drive, but it still does not show up in the device or disk management page, even after I rescan. The HDD does not show up in the BIOS. The SATA ports are enabled in the BIOS.

Resetting the BIOS settings fixed the problem! Not sure what setting I changed that caused this, but it is now fixed! Thank you so much for your help!
