New Hard Drive

Hi,
I'm planning to buy a new 2TB hard drive (Seagate Barracuda SV-35 2 TB Desktop Internal Hard Drive (ST2000VX000)). I currently have a Seagate Barracuda ST3500418AS 500GB SATA-II. My Motherboard is Dell Alienware Aurora motherboard MS-7591 v 1.0. So i just wanted to know is it okay to buy the 2TB HDD. Will it work with my motherboard? please help. thanks

Hi,
I bought the 2TB HDD. Should i replace the old 500GB HDD or just add it in another slot; because i already installed it on another HDD slot but i could not get it initialzed 🙁 .

What you already installed on another HDD?

Your OLD 500GB HDD contains your operating system don't remove it.
Do you see your new 2TB hdd in DISK MANAGEMENT AND NOT IN MY COMPUTER or YOU CAN NEITHER SEE IT IN DISK MANAGEMENT AND MY COMPUTER?

I didn't remove the old 500gb hdd. I can see the new 2tb hdd in disk management and not in my computer. When i try to initialize it for the partition, i get this error "The semaphore timeout period has expired".
