new hard drive

i replaced the hard drive on my laptop. i downloaded windows onto a thumb drive and it won't boot from the thumb drive. any help would be appreciated

i did that and i even have went in and selected to boot from it directly and still doesn't work

i went to the microsoft page and downloaded the disk image iso file

Ah...well...that won't work.
The thumb drive needs to be actually bootable, not just the bare ISO.
I am unsure of how to do that on a mac, simply because I'm not a mac guy.
