i am looking to upgrade my hard drive space mainly because of the fact that i reformat at least once a month due to my obsessive complusive nature. Backing up my stuff on a friend's computer has become rather arduous and i would like to purchase another hard drive. Right now i am running 2 ibm 60 gb 60 gxp hard drives in raid 0 on a promise fast trak tx2 card. Both my IDE jacks are taken by a burner and a DVD drive. I'm not sure what the best thing to do for me is. What size hard drive to buy, what kind, more than 1? And also how would i make it work with my current raid 0 setup. I'm open to any and all suggestions you may have, thanks.

well if your backing up your array you will need at least something of similar size.
maybe get a 120gxp?

either that or a cartload of rewritable cd's.

u said both your ide jacks are used up with a burner and cdrom... but u can fit 2 devices on each cable? so wheres the problem?
so thats 4 ide and a further 4 on your raid channels. unless im intpreting you wrong.

so where would i attatch the drive, to the raid controller card or an onboard ide channel? would it matter, and woudl attatching it onto one of the raid card channels affect the raid setup in any way?

so where would i attatch the drive
Your boot disc is your RAID 0 array on a PCI card? You have a CD-RW and DVD? Why not place a drive in the slave position on your IDE? Sorry if I have missed something here

i would just put it on one of the standard IDE channels... doesnt really matter which one, but i would put it on the least used one.

i assume here that u have an optical drive on each IDE channel correct?

Or maybe put both Optical drives on the same channel then put the hard disk on the the freed channel.....
