new hsf, case fan

okay....

so I got some Arctic Silver paste and my cpu temp went from 63C to 57C (while I'm running stuff). Now I'm thinking what I should try is getting rid of this coolermaster thing and getting a heatsink with a real fan (the CM one is 15 cfm, apparently) and see if I can't knock it down some more. There's plenty to read here about hs's, but the ones that I read about that are so highly regarded are also apparently terribly loud. I like to keep the machine on (out of habit) but can't stand too much noise. Does anyone know a place where a site has also listed the sound level of various fans, or have any recommendations for good hsf's that are relatively quiet?

And on that note, my case fan--el cheapo that was added "for free" with the case--is also way too noisy. I'd really like to replace it, but I don't have the slightest idea of any highly-regarded sites that might help me make a selection. Any suggestions?

There are a lot of good places out there. I currently get my stuff at http://2cooltek.safeshopper.com/.

I buy my junk at www.coldcpu.com They allow you to mix and match heatsinks/fans. Sunon has really fast but quiet fans. I'd recommend getting an Alpha PAL6035 heatsink- or a copper hedgehog heatsink. Then mix it with a sunon fan.

why not just change the fan? i have the cooler master 6H51 came with crappy fan so i put a sunon on it and get very good cooling from it of course i also lapped the bottom to make it perfically flat and of course the pink stuff was the first to go.

look at this site. in the cpu guide "lord kyro puts some heatsinks to the test" or something like that. in that review (which mostly sucks!) there is an attempt to compare the noise levels of the fans. i can't comment on the accuracy but it should give you a general idea.
