but you forget, other tablets don't have a vector image of an apple on the back, and that little vector image makes the tablet well worth the $400 price markup

(I currently use a HP touchpad (have both cores overclocked to 1.83GHz but since the speed stepping still works it spends most of it's time at 192MHz (PS if you are willing to spend time stress testing your tablet, you can extend your battery life by undervolting the CPU, each speed has it's own voltage and over time you can work your way doth the list of the 50+ different clock speed entries and basically limit the CPU to the single speed, then stress test for a little while, then reduce the voltage and stress test some more,

Random question: does anyone know if it is possible to overclock the ipad? At 1GHz performance is very good on the ipad 2, imagine pushing it to like 1.4GHz :)

[citation][nom]kartu[/nom]Indeed:It can force you to sign contract you don't need.It can make you pay 100$ per 8Gb of flash memory. It can force you install iTunes all over the place. It can force you buy WiFi HDD, because, you know, you don't really need access to the file system.Last but not least, it's magical (hyphno-steve himself said so) and dissapears not only itself, but also with some money from your pocket.[/citation]

Wow, I feel sorry for you, did an iPad hold a gun to your head while forcing you to do these things? Did you call the police and file a complaint? Because mine has been a nice iPad, and hasnt forced me to do anything like sign a contract or pay $100 for 8gb of flash, because even if you did want to upgrade the flash its $50 per 8gb not $100, so you got robbed. And ever since iOS 5 came out, I have not even needed iTunes to download apps, music, movies or anything else to mine, it just works.

The iPad you ran into must be a mean defective iPad, I would recommend you destroy it and got find a kindle fire right away and never read another Apple related new article ever again!

It apparently forces you because you have no self control, maybe? Many of us can make rational decisions on pluses and minuses for our buying habits. So in the end.... Whats your point?

[citation][nom]mobrocket[/nom]or have an injury? with a name like belardo, i picture u to be a mega fatass who thinks a few feet is too far to get up to go to the desktop to order pizza[/citation]

Thanks for your vapidly insightful comment. Feel better now?

[citation][nom]scook9[/nom]My Transformer Prime (Tegra 3 overclocked to 1.6GHz) got 1721[/citation]

Dang, I am overclocking mine. Just by unlocking mine, I was getting a reading of 1501. I cant wait for the infinity.

I don't understand why the iPad 3 is not getting a higher score respectively.

It is using the same CPU as last year. Performance core to core and by GHZ, it is still doing very well.

Can't wait to see the A6.

[citation][nom]Halcyon[/nom]It can be far more than that. I use my iPad at work to take notes (using the excellent PenUltimate app) to read books, to listen to music, to entertain and help educate my 2-year-old, to have any important documents with me, to play an occasional game, as well as consume the Internet. The iPad, itself, dissapears as I do these things, never getting in the way, never requiring undue attention itself (unlike the Transformer Primes I tried to live with). IMO it is indeed a revolutionary product that brought an entire market (tablets) into the light. Is it perfect? Of course not.[/citation]They're mediocre for taking notes, and terrible for long reading sessions. But so are pretty much all tablets. The only electronic device I don't mind reading on for hours on end is my Kindle. I'm hoping some of the upcoming screen technologies will combine the best aspects of eInk and traditional panels.

I love taking notes on my iPad with PenUltimate (and stylus). Perhaps I'm doing it wrong? Have you ever tried PenUltimate and a stylus on the iPad? I like reading on iPad...perhaps I'm doing that wrong too?
