:/ at this rate, everyone will have to check with their phone/tablet/computer that their own existence is permitable each day. Who needs to go around with a phone to check what everything smells like, as a standard everyday device. For people who perhaps cannot smell perhaps, but most people can.

There was an article a few days ago where IBM predicted what the five big innovations in the next five years would be. Computers that could detect and reproduce various senses such as smell and touch... that didn't take long. Got the detection part down, now to get the reproduction part going...

Police, lawyers, and government will love this, whether it does or does not. Police will request the data to arrest/fine people, lawyers will sue if someone drives drunk and apple knew, and government will have a more tool to control/fine/spy on people in the name of "safety"

Breathalysers has a very brief stint in bars, first to make people safe, until it lead to drinking more and owner's realized the liabiity either way. There is also huge difference between the $20 units people can buy over the internet, and the $500 units policy use.

Then you park, order, and proceed to dunk the phone into the dish, and confirm that the chip was right about the smells in the first place. If you want to impress your date...
