Hi

After some advice on buying a new laptop, hoping with Black Friday sales that now is a good time to get some value too.


1. What is your budget?
Upto £500

2. What is the size of the notebook that you are considering?
14-16”

3. What screen resolution do you want?
Dont mind

4. Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop?
Portable is preferred but not essential

5. How much battery life do you need?
Will always be close to power so not important

6. Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High)?
No gaming

7. What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo/Video editing, Etc.)
Photo video editing and storage mainly

8. How much storage (Hard Drive capacity) do you need?
256 minimum , 512 preferred, though happy to add external drives in the future

9. If you are considering specific sites to buy from, please post their links.

10. How long do you want to keep your laptop?
5 years minimum

11. What kind of Optical drive do you need? DVD ROM/Writer,Bluray ROM/Writer,Etc ?
Don’t mind

12. Please tell us about the brands that you prefer to buy from them and the brands that you don't like and explain the reasons.
Had a bad experience with HP so wary of them, otherwise looking for reliability and a laptop that will be functional for 5 years plus

I am more than happy to consider a refurbished laptop so long as it’s less than £400, but seems a bit of a minefield as it’s hard to tell the true value of a refurbished machine.
