Hello,

I'm about to build my first pc and need some advise regarding the choice of CPU.
All components are new except the graphics card ( I'm on a study budget so no money for upgrade atm.) In the future I will maybe go with something like "ASUS GeForce RTX 2060" .
I will primary use it for R coding and games like Apex, Counter strike, Amazon new world.. So nothing fancy.

Old setup:
  • Grafikkort: ASUS GeForce GTX 960 Strix - 4GB GDDR5
  • Kingston SSDNow V300 SSD DNBU - 240GB
  • Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3570k CPU @3.40GHz
  • Power supply: OCZ Fatal1ty 550 - 550W PSU
  • Køling: Zalman ZM-F3 120mm fan
  • RAM: G.Skill ARES LP DDR3-1600 C9 DC - 8GB
  • Motherboard: msi Z77A-G43 GAMING
  • Case: Zalman Z11 Plus - Kabinet - Miditower - Sort

New setup:
  • Fractal Design Node 304 Mini ITX Tower Case
  • MSI B450I GAMING PLUS AC - motherboard - mini ITX - Socket AM4 - AMD B450 - USB 3.1 Gen 1 - Bluetooth, Gigabit LAN, Wi-Fi.
  • CORSAIR 16GB RAMKit 2x8GB DDR4 3200MHz 2x288Dimm Unbuffered 16-18-18-36 Vengeance LPX HEat Spreader 1,35V
  • CORSAIR SF Series SF450 -Power supply (intern) - ATX12V 2.4/ EPS12V 2.92 / SFX12V - 80 PLUS Gold - AC 100-240 V - 450 Watt - Europa
  • Kingston SSDNow V300 SSD DNBU - 240GB / + 1TB HDD
  • ASUS GeForce GTX 960 Strix - 4GB GDDR5

CPU options with 25-11-2020 Danish prices.
  • AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6GHz Socket AM4 Box: $272
  • AMD Ryzen 7 3700X Processor: $318
  • AMD Ryzen 5 2600 with Wraith Stealth - Pinnacle Ridge CPU - 6 kerner 3.4 GHz: $183

Will the 3600 or maybe even the 2600 be more then enough or will the extra money on the 3700 be worth it. ?
Also it would be interesting to hear if you have some other solutions in the same price range.

Thanks!

Solution
I already got the motherboard and RAM from a friend.
Probably on a older BIOS then, so the 3000 series processors wont work unless you upgrade BIOS, and for that you will need a 2000 series CPU...

Location is Denmark.
Small form factor because I travel between 2 locations on bike and often need to bring it with me.

I already got the motherboard and RAM from a friend.

Budget for CPU is around 300$. But if it don't give me any notable difference I want to safe money and go with the 2600 or 3600.
