This will be my first time building a computer and I would love input on what I don't realize that I'm doing wrong.

Case - Gigabyte Sumo Omega
Mobo - ASRock Fatal1ty 990FX Killer
Proc - AMD 8350
GPU - 2x R9 290x
RAM - 16gb corsair vengeance 2133
PSU - Thermaltake toughpower grand 1200w
OS - Win7 ultimate

this will definatly do 4k with 30fps if your playing a demanding game(crysis need 4 r9 290x's to max it out but then it'll play at like 60fps+) you might want to get a asus x79 deluxe and a 4930k(6 core processor) that will definatly match the work load. In games all the cores are...

Yeah its good, but if you're looking to cut down on cost you only need one 290x for 1080p. A single 290x will have no trouble maxing out games. I'd recommend putting the money on the second card on an i6 4690k CPU and a z97 mobo instead.

I'm trying to go all AMD, I've always had Intel and Nvidia in the past. Why the 4690k and z97 out of curiosity?

They are much better. Only reason you'd get AMD ( CPU wise ) is that you're on a tight budget, which you're obviously not. For GPUs, nVidia and AMD is open game, pretty much your preference, but AMD does tend to be cheaper. Again for the CPU intel just offers better CPUs the higher you go. http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-4690K-vs-AMD-FX-8350 Here's a comparison for reference. Don't let the higher stck speeds of the 8350 fool you. Its all about single core performance which intel dominates at. Not to mention you can always OC the 4690k. I said z97 because you need a z97 board for OCing a 4690k, if you don't plan to OC you'd get the 4690 and an h97

yeah you should get a i5 4960k it wont get high overclocks like fx chips(5+ghz) but thats because a amd chip need a high overclock to beat intel at stock( fx 6300 vs i3). fx is good for rendering which can use all those cores but its cores are weaker than intel for gaming and other things. also you could stick with one r9 290x but if you plan on keeping this build for a while get two of them. also you could get a evga supernova or corsair hx or ax(i just know those and know their some of the best)

Gotcha, yeah I went with the fatal1ty because it can run 2 video cards at x16 bandwidth. I'm trying to get 4k out of this system and the video cards will handle more than the processor. I can definitely see where the intel's show better, but as they're paired I have some doubts as to whether the benchmarks take into account that each core is only doing half the work. I'm new to all this though, so I'm definitely going to look more into it. Thanks!

In games all the cores are never at full because the games algarithom doesnt use it so its only a 30-40% capacity and can dip lower.

yeah i saw a gtx 770 beating a R9 295X2 how the **** that possible its a dual gpu and liquid cooled for extreme overclocks its not possible so i said*** that site.

just my two cents on the matter its a known fact amd fx chips are budget and not as good as intel chips(not to bad though but 2 r9 290x are going to get bottlenecked) a evga supernova 1300 or maybe a corsair 1500 would a be a better powersupply. YOu dont have to take this suggestion but getting windows 8 would be better because it will be updated and you probably will get a discount on windows 9. that ram is good you could get 2 pairs of crucial tatical tracer ballistix ram with leds for around 200$ or some dominator planitums. a asus sabertooth would be good if your going with the i7 4970k or the x79 deluxe or px79 deluxe would be great for the 4930k(highly recommended) also this is a must GET A SSD they have a 250gb samsung ssd for around 140$ this will significantly speed up your computer
