New Monitor Broken?

I just purchased a new AOC I2757FH monitor and I used it maybe all of five minutes before it seemed like it shut off. It's not the computer as I tried another monitor and it works fine. Both were set at 1920x1080. I purchased it for dual monitor use. When I first booted it up the screen was black but you could tell it had power. Now the power light comes on however the screen is blank like it is off. I cant bring up the monitor menu or change inputs or anything. Did the monitor have the one in 1000 chance of being defective? Should I return for a new one or can this be fixed?
