Hi!

I just got a new monitor and noticed a transparent, plasticky material sticking out between the display and the monitor frame at the bottom. It doesn’t cover the entire bottom part of the monitor - It starts from the middle of the monitor and extends all the way to the right side. Most of it appears uneven, but some sections are more evenly spread.

Also, the frame and the display at the bottom are not quite well pressed or securely fitted together, as there is a tiny gap between both. This is my third monitor and the other two do not have any gaps like that.

I’ve already contacted the retailer's support team, but while I wait for their response, does anyone know what this might be? Could it be a defect?

For reference, the monitor is ASUS TUF Gaming VG27AQL3A

Thank you!

Make and model monitor?

Did the monitor come with a protective plastic film covering the display screen?

To me, it appears that the plastic film was not fully or cleanly removed.

There is nothing anywhere within the package that would point there should be a plastic film. This plastic thing comes from inside the monitor. I did not touch it as I don't want to damage the display, but it doesn't seem to be soft.

Other than the cardboard box and the foam packaging, the monitor's display was covered in a soft material that has bubbles on the inside that touches the display. Additionally, it has a soft bag, made from the same material as the bubble covering on the display.

Was there a User Guide included.?

Is this applicable User Guide for the monitor?

https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/...8_1735420351_6a2f35b6363389de512a4ac06ccd8a8d

(Be sure to verify that I found the correct User Guide.)

In any case the User Guide does not mention any such film. Which is not necessarily surprising - some items come with a protective film with some sort of "remove me" labling or icon.

Where was the monitor purchased? Are you certain that the monitor is new and not refurbished?

Hopefully some other member purchased or received the identical monitor (or even any Asus monitor model) and can comment on the packaging and protection.

Yes, this is the manual for the model.
I did check the manual that the monitor comes packaged with and I did not see any mention of protective film.

I bought the monitor from an online retailer. The product is being advertised as brand new.

Yes, hopefully someone might've encountered the same thing and can say what it is.

Though, I think this might be some defect. As I already mentioned, its not just the plastic thing but there is a small gap between the monitor's bottom frame and the display. It's not a huge gap but it's there, unlike any other monitor I've had.
