[SOLVED] New mother board: Video: "No signal"

Installed a new identical motherboard. Original was dead after a water spill. On first power up everything comes back to life but the video. The monitor says "no signal", just like it would if you unplugged the monitor cable while in use. Initially I did not install the old video card. I figured I'd try the on board video to finish the tune up before installing the graphics card. "No signal". I did install the graphics card to check: same result: "no signal" All the components seem to be working, making appropriate noises, fans running, but no signal to the monitor. Any suggestions on what to do next would be appreciated, thanks!

AMD AM3+ platform is old, slow and dead (no good upgrade paths). No point in resurrecting that.

With as little as $275, you can go with brand new CPU-MoBo-RAM combo:

While there are better CPUs to go for, R5 2600 is one of the best value CPUs (price to performance ratio). Also...

Sometimes, you can get DOA MoBo back from RMA. So, only thing to do is 2nd RMA.

Though, before you RMA your 2nd MoBo, test if your CPU and RAM also work. Since it's possible they also got fried when MoBo got soaked. To do that, you'd need 2nd compatible PC where to test your components out.

Thank for your reply! The new mobo doesn't seem bad though because - old mobo: machine dead, new mobo: machine seems to be running, except the monitor. If everything were working, would swapping in a new identical mobo be 'plug and play', or is some kind of set-up necessary?

Ok thanks again for your interest, no I'm not sure the CPU or ram are working. I suspect the CPU because it does not sound or feel like I would expect were it operating correctly, that's why I asked if the the deal could be "plug and play", like if I had somehow miraculously only fried the mobo...etc.

Wondering if I should rebuild on this MoBo or move on.

Here is my system, or should I say here are my parts, lol:
  • CPU: FX-6300 (6-core, 3.5Ghz) w/ Hyper 212 Evo Attached
  • RAM: 8GB DDR3 x 2 with heat spreaders. 2 free slots.
  • GPU: XFX Double Dissipation AMD R9 280
  • PSU: EVGA 600W Bronze 80+
  • Storage: .5TB WD Blue Hard Drive
  • Case: Thermaltake Core V21 mATX Case
  • Motherboard: GIGABYTE 78LMT USB3 AM3+ mATX

While there are better CPUs to go for, R5 2600 is one of the best value CPUs (price to performance ratio). Also, CPU cooler is included with CPU. For MoBo, picked micro-ATX MoBo that fits in your Core V21 cube case (great case btw) while having 4x RAM slots for easier RAM upgrade in the future. And lastly, put in 2x 8GB 3000 Mhz RAM which is more than enough for today's web browsing and gaming needs. RAM speed is 3000 Mhz since Ryzen CPUs need fast RAM to operate effectively.

Specs:
Requirements
External Power - 6-pins : 1
External Power - 8-pins : 1
Minimum Power Supply Requirement : 750 watt
XFX Recommended Power Supply : XFX 850W PSU
AMD Radeon™ R9 280 Black Double Dissipation Edition - R9 .
You sure you posted your reply into right topic? Since that GPU sys req list doesn't help.

Yes, XFX says that minimum PSU wattage should be 750W while 850W PSU is recommended but R9 280 is 200W GPU (source). Add the rest of the system at about 200W to it and max what PC can consume is about 400W, making the 600W PSU OP has more than enough.

So, don't post random info about OP's hardware, especially without any word or explanation why did you post it.
