so i bought a new mobo - Z97 and cpu - 4690k for my computer. i installed both and my computer ran fine, before installing windows i realized that i forgot to backup my drive. so i put my old motherboard and cpu back in and did that. then i put my new parts back in and i got zero power, absolutely nothing. this really worries me because I've gone over the checklist and everything seems to be in place, the only thing i can think of is that i put the screws in the motherboard in different places and its causes a short or something. but I've tried different screw positions and didn't work. I've looked at using standoffs but i think my case has built in ones (and it worked without standoffs the first time) any help is greatly appreciated. thanks!

Here is a pic of my case, so the issue here is when i install the standoffs, it elevates my board too high and then none of the audio inputs or anything fit throughout the side of my case.

Yeah, without the speaker you cannot hear the beeps.

Are you sure you've got the front panel connectors in the right place? I've given myself fits more than once by having the power switch connected to the wrong pins, lol. You hit the switch, nothing happens, and then you freak out, lol. And another thought, what are you hooking up when you're testing these boards? I'd suggest the absolute minimum-CPU, RAM, power.

i will switch the panel connectors on different pins and see if i can get results haha. when i started them up a couple days ago i had the video card connected, but it was getting in the way. I've just been testing them with the mobo, cpu, ram, and psu. whats weird is that my old board was getting power with my psu, when i tried new mobo with same psu it didn't work. now both boards aren't working. so I'm a quite stuck here

sounds like a plan, i appreciate your help! be right back with a picture.

heres a pic i took of the board setup, this is the old board btw-

I don't see anything wrong in that picture. What does it do when you hit the power switch? Nothing at all? Have you tried bypassing the switch? You can disconnect it and jump between the 2 pins for it on the motherboard-I usually use a Phillips screwdriver that fits between the pins, you just touch it to the pins and take it loose, long enough to make the momentary connection-it's the same as using the switch. Other than that, there is a simple test you can do to make sure the PSU is turning on. Disconnect it from everything, flip the switch on the back to off, and use a bent paperclip to go between the pin for the green wire and the pin for any black wire. Flip the switch to on and it should power up. If it doesn't, your PSU is bad.
