Question New motherboard and PSU trips protection when I plug in 24-pin connector ?

I bought a new PSU and installed it I used the tester it came with and works fine. But when I plug in the 24-pin connector it trips the protection on the PSU. I tried my old PSU and it does the same thing.
So I thought I messed up my motherboard unplugging the connector but I bought a new motherboard and it does the same thing.

Help please

Edit
I also tried my old PSU on the new motherboard and it still does it even if I only have the 24-pin connector plugged in.

If it trips immediately after turning on the PSU (without powering on the board) then CountMike is probably right and there's a short somewhere. By the way, you should always connect cables to the motherboard with the PSU disconnected from the wall or at least with the PSU power switch turned off.

What are your two PSUs (brand and model)? Are they both fully modular? If they are, did you use the 24-pin cable that came with the new PSU or did you use the old one?
