Hi,

I want to upgrade the MB/CPU and keep my HD with Win7 and data. I seem to remember that the OS will recognize I've changed the MB/cpu and cause problems on boot. Correct?

If so, How do I get the new equipment to work?

Solution

That is correct. the new MB & CPU will most likely cause a BSOD on boot.

One way to avoid this problem is to "Sysprep" your HDD before you remove it from the old system. Instructions here: http://theitbros.com/sysprep-a-windows-7-machine-%e2%80%93-start-to-finish/

Good luck!
