I just bought the Nexus 5. On the first day when I eas playong games, the temp was fine but by the 4th day, the phone started heatong up like anything. Now on 6th day I updated it to Android 6 and after the update was complete, the drvice was so hot that it felt like it was going to melt. Now no matter whatI am doing the phone gets heated up. Whether I am watchong a video or evwn typing this message. The heating is always below the camera. The people I bought it from say that it is like that only. Is this supposes to happen? Please help.

that is too high,you should contact lg if the phone is new it is a big prob,I don't think it ll cost you anything,nexus are treated differently even if your warranty has expired,just contact lg

I own a Nexus 5 and if it was me I would ask for a refund because a hot phone could lead on to issues like bad performance like throttling where it gets so hot it downgrades its performance to keep cool and it won't last long as it keeps getting hot it reduces the life expectancy of the phone.

Go into the Google Play Store and Download CPU-Z when thats downloaded then open it and go into the thermal tab and tell us how hot it gets.

WellI did not download CPU -Z but some app call cputemp. The temps were pretty hig. Right after typing the .essage, thw temp was 78 degree celcius. But I also want to point out that I typed the message just 5 mins after updating, in case that makes a difference

If you can still get a refund for it then do so as soon as possible them temps are not normal my Nexus 5 doesn't go above 40 degrees on the heavy side even when playing games and when its not doing nothing my Nexus 5 sits around 35 Degrees.
When it comes too phones theres not much you can do because its a phone its small and compact if it were a desktop or laptop you could bring down the temps with thermal paste or a cooler but for a phone you can't the only thing you can do is get a refund for it or just keep it.

Is there a way in which I could give it a proper stress test with temps level recorded as the aeller is asking me to get a certificate from LG service center in order to get a refund. The test results will confirm whether or not there is an issue.

Okah ao I tried the above app. Within 5 mins the temp started shooting up to 100 degrees. I had to stop the test as I was worried that such high temps for a long time could damage the component. I ran the teat for 30 mins and the temps remained constant at 98 - 99 while ocassionally touching 100. Please comment.

Okay so I have an update. Well it seems that the temps shown by CPU Temperature an Cooler Master are very different. While normal usage, CPU temp shows the temp to be around 45 degees while CM shows around 38. The higher difference though is when gaming. When playing games like Gangster Vegas and Into The Dead, CPU temp shows above 65 degrees while CM app shows around 48 degrees. I am rwally confused. Also, while gaming the Phone exterior gets so hot that I feel that the temp os more tha 48. I trued CPU-Z app but was unable to identify which temp was for what. A little help please.

check out cpu z i think it is the most definite and tell us,on gamming aspect it sounds really fine to have higher temps after all i have nexus 5 as well and it had some issues,keep in mind we are talking about a phone 2 years old and from flagship specs now it is a medium to high class device,so in intensive games you are going to have issues

Hey yimmi, so I tried CPU-Z but in the thermal section it shows many sensors with no description so I am unable to understand which one is which. Oher than that I again conducted a stabiloty test for a few minutes. While Cooler Master showed temperature to be around 38 degrees, CPU TEPM shoeed a whooping 81. I took picture of my screen with tje CPU-Z results. See if this opens :

Thanks a lot Yimmi. I will go to the service center tomorrow. Just as an update, while I was playong Into The Dead today, the temps were again high. Though a strange thing is occuring. Sometimes the phone seems to heat way too much and sometimes it doesn't. Anyway, lets see what those guys say tomorrow. Thanks a lot for your help man
