Hi everyone,

Having some overheating issues, tried to Overclock initially, ended up having to clear the CMOS as it start running significantly slower. I then went to BIOS and noticed that my CPU was running at 100c. So I set the clock back to normal, was still running hot. No idea what I did wrong.

Specs:
Asrock Z390 pro4 motherboard
I7 8700k
Coolermaster ML240L Liquid Cooler

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks everyone.

Solution
Make sure your pump is plugged in correctly and also make sure that the cooler is mounted properly. Poor application of thermal paste is not likely to cause a CPU to idle at 100c.
Something is wrong with you cooler and I bet it is not installed properly. Did you use thermal paste? Too much or too little can cause over heating. Did you remove the plastic cover over the base plate of the pump? That will cause the chip to overheat for sure. Is the pump properly seated on the IHS?
