I plugged my PC in, no issues, I plug it in, motherboard lights turn on. I think nothing of it and think its just normal, plug everything else in, press power button, lights turn off. I release the power button, and the lights turn back on again. I don't know what i've done wrong, or if this is something to do with the power supply?

Solution

Try disconnecting the switches and jump out the power plug pins with a screwdriver. It should boot, Maybe the switches are bad

Also what do you have connected? Just cpu, ram, cpu cooler? Try without GPU
Lots of things to check here. Are the power, reset, etc plugs plugged in correctly? All standoffs aligned properly and have screws in them?

Anything shorting it out?

Barring that I would pull the motherboard from the case and start over, outside the case, see if you can get it to boot.
