Hey guys,

I'm planning to [strike]buy[/strike] build a new PC within a couple of weeks, I'll be using it to work (3DSMax, Zbrush, Photoshop) and gaming (AAA games as well as VR (HTC Vive)).

I live in Hong Kong so I've picked parts that are available to me on this site :
http://shop.cap.com.hk/index.php?route=information/information&information_id=9

Here is my current build :

  • GIGABYTE GTX1070, WINDFORCE COOLING, 8GB GDDR5
    INTEL CORE I7-8700K 6CORE 12 THREAD, 3.70G, 12M
    CRUCIAL 500GB MX500 SSD 2.5"
    G-SKILL RIPJAWS V SERIES 16GB*2 DDR4 3200MHZ
    WD BLUE WD30EZRZ 3TB 5400RPM 64M SATA
CORSAIR RM-I SERIES 750W 80PLUS GOLD FULL MODULAR
GIGABYTE Z370 AORUS GAMING 7 MB
    NOCTUA NH-D15 SANDWICH CPU COOLER
CARBIDE SERIES AIR 240 ARCTIC WHITE HIGH AIRFLOW

The price tag so far is 17,231HKD (about 2,195USD) - that's kind of high, it's ok but I wouldn't mind lowering it a bit if possible.

Can you please tell me if that build will work or if there is any problem ?

Also, I would highly favor performance over look (I don't care for the flashy lights :) )
So could you please suggest any swaps / adjustments that would make this build run better ?

Thanks for taking the time to read and for the help !
Cheers

U can get a 550w gold rated psu. Corsair txm 550 or evga g2 /g3 550, seasonic focus 550

Get a cheaper mobo. Asrock killer z370 ac or msi tomahawk z370

I think the air 240 is a m atx case. Ur mobo is atx. So incompatible.

Alternate case : corsair 270/275R, nzxt s340, phanteks p400 or fractal design meshify c.

Hey Lucky_SLS

Ok I'll get those :

TX-M SERIES TX550M 80 PLUS GOLD SEMI MODULAR
ASROCK Z370 KILLER SLI
corsair 275R or the nzxt s340, I'll decide when I see them :)

Thanks for the help !

If any problem I'll switch to the cryorig h5.
Thanks again ! 😀

What would be the impact if I only used 16GB RAM and switch to a GTX1080Ti ?
Or is the 32GB RAM and GTX1070 combo better ?
(trying to balance price vs performance here)

Ok great, thanks !
