i have just put together my new computer.

Spec:
Ryzen 1700x
Prime x370 Pro
EVGA GTX 1080
2x4gb Vengeance LPX
Corsair 750D
Corsair CX750

the motherboard LEDs come on but i get nothing from the power button. i assume the psu and mobo are both working due to the lights coming on, but that is all.

any ideas?

Do the fans move slightly when you press the power buttons? This can happen if there's a short somewhere. Is the CLR CMOS jumper in the correct position? You can check that on the manual.

You can also check the if power supply is powering up by shorting the green wire with any black one. If you are going to do this, disconnect all PSU cables from the motherboard, disks and case. If the PSU has a switch, turn it off...
Not to be too simplistic here, but just in case: are you 100% sure you have the switch wired up right? Even if several other things were wrong, the fans should come on at least with the power button. You get nothing?

If the PSU has a switch, turn it off before shorting the pin, if not then disconnect the power cable. This cannot damage your PSU, as long as you don't short anything else.
