Hi,

I had a PC built at Micro center about a week before Christmas. I have posted this on Microcenters forum also, but wanted to try here also. I was hoping this might be a simple fix and avoid having to bring it back to Microcenter as getting there can be a bit difficult for me.

I have 2 issues….
First of all since getting it I've had this usual issue where when I shut the PC down, certain LEDs would still stay powered on. Either my logitech mouse, my xbox controller, or one of the PC fan LEDs. (This Fan LED seems to be controlled separately from the other fans LEDs in the software, not sure if that means anything). I'm not sure why it doing this, but it wasn't a big deal. Although I probably should have contacted Microcenter right away after receiving it.

However, now in the last 2 weeks or so I'm having this issue where the PC won't boot up completely or shut down completely. When booting only the LEDs on the RAM and GPU come on, and the fans turn on (No fan LEDs. ) Won't boot into windows. When shutting down, Windows will shut down, but things stay on as described above, or the whole PC just stays on except the cooler LCD image.

I try to hold in the power button to force it to shut down but most of the time it won't and I need to turn off the power supply. eventually it will start normally, and shut down normally. But then do it again.

I'm just taking a guess at this as I'm not the most PC saavy. My best guess is it's the RAM? Some things I have noticed. The red light on the mother board sometimes comes on during booting (is this normal?) but will go off once in windows. Although I did see the light stay ON while in windows also. So I tried re-seated the RAM and it stopped doing that. Also, when booting up and shutting down the RAM will flash red. It didn't do that until the last 2 weeks or so. Do I have faulty RAM?

Also, I should mention, and I hope I didnt cause these issues, but when I first got the PC and installing things and setting it up, I did update the BIOS. (this 2nd issue started well after that though)

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Jim

For the sake of relevance, please mention the BIOS version you're currently on for your motherboard. Did you clear the CMOS after verifying that the BIOS was successfully flashed?

You speak of fans, do you mean the ones that are on the AIO? Which one do you have as there are couple under the Galahad II banner? You will need Lian-Li's L-Connect app to manage the fans.

Operating System: Windows 11
Out of curiosity, was the OS installed in offline mode while at Microcenter?

Ok, so I have tried to put in one RAM at a time…… first one, it booted fine. The second one wouldn't boot at all after a few tries. I put the first one back in, now that won't boot now 🤔 Red light on the mother board stays on.

First let me say im very novice when it comes to PCs, i get by with google and trial and error lol

I can't even get into my BIOS now to look. It's the latest version thats all I know.
No, I didn't clear CMOS, didn't know I had to or how.

As far as the fans, I'm talking about the whole system. i know how to mess with the LED light etc in the software, but at first there was one LED light that didn't always turn off when shutting down, happened occasionally.
now however as i say when i go to shut down the whole system either just stays on, or the other LEDs lights (not the fans) stay on. There is no pattern or consistency to any of this either

sometimes it WILL boot properly, shut down......it started about 2 weeks ago and has gradually seemed to get worse. I was gaming just fine most of the day yesterday, no issues. Now today I'm having a very difficult time getting into windows.
just trying to give you the most info I can, its confusing how its behaving (to me anyway)

ok I was able to get into BIOS and check the version. Its F34f.
Will try to clear CMOS now

ok cleared. Still not booting. I updated the firmware about 5 weeks ago, this partial boot/shut down only started about 2 weeks ago or less.

Also, it will boot into windows as I say (and shut down correctly), just not consistently. Today im having harder time getting it to boot.

Hmm ok this is strange, as i was typing this it seemed like it wasnt booting, a couple of minutes passed 4 or so) and suddenly it booted into windows? Maybe it IS booting just very very slowly.
Red RAM light is on the mother board
