I need to know what type of cooling I'll need if I'm over clocking

Solution
I have a 4.4 OC on my 6600k and a similar cooler. As long as you keep your vcore at reasonable (1.2v - 1.35v) levels, the EVO should have no problems.
Well the type of cooling will very well depend on the CPU. Overclocking by how much ? Is it going to be overclocked continuously or sometimes during heavy use ?
However, evo 212 will do nicely for slight or normal overclocking with a little temp increase.
If you are going to push the CPU to its limits then the corsair h100i is a good option.

I'm just looking to over clock it a bit. This is my first PC build and I'm having a friend help me over clock. I'm probably going to have it constantly have it overclocked for gaming purposes

In this case just go for the EVO 212. It will go a long way if you are just starting off and won't heavily OC your system.
Once you get familiar to Overclocking and go for a higher end system then you can go in for the H100i. In this case its not worth the extra $$...
