Question New pc, cpu temp intermittent

Hi
So just got myself a new gaming pc.
amd ryzen 5 7600 cpu 6 cores
Gigabyte Gaming b650 x ax motherboard

Weirdest thing happens with it on every start up.
Firstly, I have to boot Into the bios every time now and wait. Within 5mins the cpu temp rises to 90+ degrees Celsius (during high temp bios is laggy). And then SOMETIMES it drops down back to 30+- degrees Celsius. Once it drops I can safely exit the bios and boot into windows without issues and game. If it doesn’t drop after 3-5 mins. I have to reboot/switch off and try again.

I feel like there’s a clocking issue here because when the CPU temp rises the “MHz” speeds drop?
Or clock speeds drop. Which presents the lag in bios.
Everything in my bios is set to auto clock. I’ve even tried disabling the auto performance boosters/clockers that gigabyte offer. I get the same issue after rebooting/shutting down with new settings.
It feels like the CPU or motherboard are battling to work with each other.
Either that or being a new setup, could it just be thermal paste not placed properly??
Can’t be thermal paste as when it is working, I can game for hours and hours. no issues.

I’ll try post some pics of my findings shortly.

Oof! Taking a boot in the bois can be bloody painful! (I couldn't help myself!) 😉 🤣

Zen4 CPUs try to attain 94°C and stay there but the R5-7600 is so efficient that it has trouble getting there. If you want it to not do that and behave more like a typical CPU, just enable "Eco-Mode".

ROFL - only noticed that now 😀 haha.

I havent seen an "eco-mode" in the bios, but will have a look today. thanks mate. ill read up some more now on my motherboard.
my word. 94 degrees Celsius is hot, i've been out the game for years now so thats very new to me.

Don't feel too bad about it because it's brand-new to all of us. Zen4 is the first CPU architecture to do it. 😉 👍

Zen4 cpus default to 'memory training' after a power up. It's done to self tweak the ram speeds, timings and voltages to maximum benefit, as pertains to your particular setup. Can take upto @ 2 Minutes before anything happens you have any control over.

But once it's done, there's no real reason to keep repeating the procedure. There are ways to turn that off in most bios, but it's different for every vendor, you'll need to read the user manual bios descriptions, but it'll be something like memory fast training and usually under the boot tab somewhere.
