New Pc, No display

Built first pc and here are the problems I have:
No display on monitor
Powers itself off after a minute or so of being on, then powers itself back on within 5 seconds or so
And when I turn it on that fans start loudish then quiet down after 5 sec of being turned on but I don't know if they're supposed to do that...

Specs:
CPU: Intel i5-4670k
MB: Asrock Z87 pro3
GPU: GeForce Gtx 660
PSU: TX750M
Memory: 2x4gb corsair vengance
The hard drive is 1tb from western digital

This is my first build (but I did have my bro who has experience help me) so please don't suggest something because you think I would've done that

How do you connect the monitor (what ports/adapters)?

I've tried hdmi from mobo and GPU. Also RGB cable from mobo

This troubleshooting checklist will help you figure out what's causing the problem.

Try starting the board outside the case, single RAM module, DVD drive, keyboard and mouse. Connect the monitor using the onboard VGA (VGA to VGA).
