Hello,

I just got my ASRock H97-ITX/AC in the mail and built my new pc. I know for a fact that the psu that i have works because i have used it before. everything is plugged in properly including the connectors on the motherboard. At first I thought it was the front panel connectors that weren't plugged in properly but i've tried absolutely every possible combination. I saw the fans spin once but when I tried it again it wouldnt spin. Im seriously thinking its the motherboard simply not booting. But I don't know why it wont boot. any suggestions?

Solution

Most people simply short the PWR_SW pins with a small screwdriver.
Take it apart, put it back together on a wooden table without the case ("breadboarding") and if it boots that way, you had a short between a component and the case. If you still get no joy, something may have gone bust or your old "known good" PSU might not be good enough for your rebuild.

If the motherboard has a "5VSB" LED and that is not on, it means the motherboard is not receiving 5VSB from the PSU. That LED should be on whenever the PSU is plugged in with the hard-switch (if applicable) turned on, even when the rest of the system is off.

is the PSU , fully wired or fully modular ?

how do I go about booting the system when im "breadboarding" it? since I wont have my power switch from my case hooked up
