With a 144hz 1ms 1080p monitor

I want to get a 2080 8gb FE
Will this bottle neck?

$800 and new psu total is like 920

Or I found a pc for $1500
I7 8700
2070 8gb
16 go ram
1tb ssd

My pals told me to just upgrade my gpu. Cause my cpu is fine. I just want to make sure it’ll run smooth with the gpu

The i7 7700 is a very strong gaming cpu so your friends are correct, it should be fine for a 2080. It's possible in a few games the 7700 might hold the 2080 back slightly, but I think the 7700 + 2080 is still going to be faster than the 8700 + 2070 so it makes more sense to go that route imo.

I think an RTX 2080 is pushing it for a i7-7700.
I think it will work OK but you won't get full use out of the card.
I wouldn't go with anything above an RTX 2070.
I think a 1080 or a 1080 Ti would also work good with it.

If it were me I might just upgrade the GPU because you will get quite a leap from a 1060....and you could sell the 1060 on ebay or whatever.

I think that if you put a 2070 in your PC....it will run pretty damn near as well as the 8700 PC.

There’s also a Alienware i7 8700 with a 2080 for $1900

I have a RTX 2080 and I'm sure it will work fine with you CPU without any major bottle necks. It seems a little early to upgrade from at 7700k just yet, it's a brilliant CPU.

I only just upgraded from a 2600k to 9900k and I've noticed very little performance difference when using it with my 2080 when gaming. In some benchmarks the 2600k seems to score higher than the 9900k which is weird.
