Writing this for my coworker. He just built his first PC and it's stuck in a boot loop. He says it'll turn on for 15 seconds, turns off for 3 seconds and then restarts. It won't go into BIOS, show anything on the monitor or let him do anything. Fans and lights turn on for the few seconds the PC is on. Thermal paste was pre-applied to the 2400G out of the box. I haven't seen the PC yet, so everything I'm communicating here is basically what we've exchanged via text. Build consists of:
2400G
ASRock B450 Pro4
G.Skill Ripjaws V Series 2x8GB 3200
WD Blue 1TB HDD
MSI 1060 6GB
Corsair CXM 550W 80+ Bronze
So far he's tried:
Made sure the cables are connected.
Reseated the RAM sticks. Also put one stick in at a time.
Turn PC on with HDMI plugged into motherboard.
Turn PC on with HDMI plugged into GPU.
Turn PC on with HDMI plugged into motherboard and GPU removed.
Clearing CMOS.
I'm wondering if he got a defective motherboard. What other suggestions might he try?
